TRAINING & WORKSHOPS

Credit control training for owners and their teams

Most businesses have nobody trained to chase money. It falls to whoever is free, gets done badly or late, and quietly costs weeks of cash flow. Our training gives your people the skill, not just a document: they learn to run credit control themselves, on your own ledger, so it keeps working after we leave.

WHO WE TRAIN

Who this is for

The people who actually send and chase the invoices-whether that is the owner doing it at the kitchen table on a Sunday night, or the person who was handed the job because nobody else wanted it.

Owners

Who chase the money themselves and want a method they can rely on, not another awkward evening

Office & accounts staff

Who were handed the job without ever being shown how to do it well

Small teams

Where credit control is everyone’s job, which means it is nobody’s job

Prefer it built for you rather than taught? That is our Credit Control Setup-and it includes training sessions too.

TWO WAYS TO LEARN IT

The programmes

A group workshop for teams who need the method, or one-on-one coaching on your own ledger when the debtors are already a problem. Both are run by a working finance professional, not read from a slide deck.

Get Paid On Time

Half day (3.5 hours) · groups of 4 to 12

The credit control workshop - for owners, office managers and anyone who sends or chases invoices
  • The economics: what a week of late payment costs you, calculated from your own numbers
  • Prevention: the terms, credit applications and checks that stop bad debt before the first invoice
  • The follow-up sequence: what to send on day 3, 7, 14, 21 and 30, and why each step is worded that way
  • The phone call nobody wants to make: a repeatable method that gets a payment date
  • Warning signs: the five patterns in a ledger that predict a bad debt months early
  • Escalation: letters of demand, credit reporting, the Disputes Tribunal, and when to write off

Credit Control Coaching

Four sessions over six weeks · one-on-one

On your own Xero or QuickBooks ledger - with the owner, or whoever runs your receivables
  • Diagnose: we read your aged receivables, calculate your DSO and the cash trapped by late payment, and rank your top ten debtors
  • Design: we build your follow-up sequence and write your templates in your voice, for your customers
  • Do: we make the first difficult phone calls together, live, and you learn the method by doing it
  • Decide: we set your escalation rules, credit limits and write-off line, and agree the numbers you watch monthly

Between coaching sessions you run the process yourself; each session reviews what actually happened and we adjust. That is the point: the skill stays with you, not with us.

FROM THE WORKSHOP

What you leave with

Not notes. Working documents for your business, finished in the room and ready to use on Monday.

A written follow-up sequence

Day 3 through day 30, built around your customers and your terms-not a generic template.

Email and SMS templates

One for every step of the sequence, worded to get a payment date without losing the customer.

A one-page escalation ladder

What happens at each stage, who does it, and the point at which you stop chasing and hand it on.

A 30-day action list

The specific things to do first, so the training turns into cash rather than good intentions.

WHO DELIVERS IT

Your trainer

Training is only as good as the person running the room. Ours has spent fifteen years doing the job she teaches.

  • Erica Denny, MBA (Finance), ICNZB Certified Member: fifteen years in finance and accounting roles including Head of Finance, across trades, distribution and professional services in New Zealand and the UK.
  • She has made these calls herself: in every one of those roles, part of the job was getting customers to pay. That is why the training is practical-real sequences, real wording, real phone calls.
  • Active in the profession: facilitator of the ICNZB Debt Recovery Roundtable, September 2026. Xero Certified (L1 and L2), Xero Migration Specialist, QuickBooks ProAdvisor.

NOT SURE WHICH YOU NEED

Start with the numbers

If you do not yet know how bad the problem is, an AR Health Check tells you-your DSO, your worst debtors, and what a week of faster payment is worth. It also tells you which programme fits. Or try the free DSO calculator first.
